Letter 45 — November 17, 1873
“You asked me about the train, it will not stop at Moorefield, you will have to get off at Springfield, I will meet you there.”
I received your letter in due time and was glad to hear from you, we are all well as usual. Since writing to you the other time, there have been two more deaths here. Grandmother Ernst and Jacob Ernst Jr., the three deaths within four weeks. There was a young fellow at Grandpaps shot himself through the hand last week, he has got an awful hand, the doctors took off two of his fingers, they say it is doing as well as could be expected.
You asked me about the train, it will not stop at Moorefield, you will have to get off at Springfield, I will meet you there at the depot. Our Sabbath School has closed for the summer and reorganized for the winter. Well I must bring my letter to a close for this time. So good bye. Write soon.
Ellie sends her love to you.
