Letter 3 — September 21, 1863
“I would like to see you so well if I could and Maggie but I cannot”
It is with much pleasure I seat myself to inform you that I am well at present and I hope that when these few lines reach you they may find all of you the same. We are all well but John, he is getting better. Aunt Eliza's family is all well, John is here this afternoon. We had a big frost here this morning. Well Ann I would like to see you so well if I could and Maggie but I cannot. I hope you will come up this fall and see us all. I received your letter and was glad to hear from you. I am writing in the new house. Well I guess I will have to bring my letter to a close, so no more at present, from Alonzo H. McCollough
