Letter 23 — August the 20, 1871
“We have got plenty of apples but have not got any ripe peaches yet.”
I seat myself to let you know that I am well at present. Hoping when these few lines reach you that they will find you well. I have been to church today. Mr Graham preached his farewell sermon today. It was Martin's folks that had that meeting. I was at camp meeting on Sunday. There was a large crowd there. We have got plenty of apples but have not got any ripe peaches yet. We are going to have a Sabbath School mass meeting in September. John has been sick but he is better now. I was over at uncle Tom's last week. they were all well. Kate was sewing on the sewing machine. They said that they had not got no paper yet to write to you but was going to town the next day to get some. Well, I have not got much to write this time. So goodbye. Write soon.
