Letter 20 April 9, 1871

“I wish you had come with them. You must come as soon as you can.”

I seat myself to inform you that I am well at present, hoping when these few lines reach you they will find you the same. I did not get your letter for over two weeks after you wrote. I would have wrote sooner but thought you would come with Nan. They got here safe. Nan is here today. She said she saw you when they come home. Mrs Beard is dead. She was buried last Sunday and Kitty Hause is dead. I wish you had come with them. You must comeas soon as you can. Mary Willoughby has got another boy and Lide Beard has got another girl. Charley Hause was badly hurt at the wagon make shop at Lagonda. He had his right arm and leg both broken. Well I must bring my letter to a close for this time. So good bye, Write soon.
