Letter 17 Dec 20, 1868

“A Merry Christmas and a glad New Year to you. Wish you could have been up here to spend the holidays”

I take my pen in hand to let you know that I am well at present and I hope when these few lines reach you they will find you the same. I am going to school, I started two weeks ago, we have not had any Spelling Schools yet this winter. I went over to Aunts to eat melons, the democrats do not have much today. I still have a good deal of fun with Dove. Nan and me was over to Aunts four weeks ago today, they were all well. They are going to have a concert at Pleasant Hill between the holidays to pay for the melodeon. Well I must bring my letter to a close for this time so good bye for this is all the particulars at present.

A Merry Christmas and a glad New Year to you. Wish you could have been up here to spend the holidays, but you must come up as soon as you can.
